I'm David Young, a Geordie graphic designer

currently based at home in Newcastle.

Over the last five years I have grown and developed my skills as a designer working on several international titles at one publisher.

I am now a senior designer, responsible for producing our latest publications in a small design team. Working in a small team has meant that I have had chance to get involved with all aspects of design, whether it's the evolution of the magazines with the yearly redesign or communicating with clients to help advertise their brand effectively. As can be expected, I'm used to working to tight deadlines in a high pressured environment. 

 

I have developed a keen interest in photography and image retouching which has led me to take part in, and oversee various photo shoots. This has included involving industry professionals, friends, family and even learning some new cooking skills! Working with a strict budget has meant I have had to be more creative in my approach to design, creating illustrations and using typography effectively when appropriate. 

 

I've learnt a lot about the industry over the past decade but I'm still eager to evolve and develop my current skill set. This is still only the start of a very long journey and I look forward to working on future projects.
